About

My name is Olha (Ольга), and I am a Software Engineer.
2003 – 2010
I've studied social sciences at Kyiv-Mohyla Academy—a unique and old university in Kyiv, Ukraine—and group psychoanalysis afterwards.
2011
And yet, I chose to work with the language and media and joined the tech field as a content writer / marketing copywriter. One of my favorite things was to translate and subtitle films.
2016 – 2019
Fast-forward 5 years: I landed in Berlin and continued doing what I did in Ukraine. Until I felt the need for a relaunch.
2020 – 2021
Learned to build websites and web apps as a FrauenLoop and DCI student.
My two main takeaways:
  1. to learn something, one needs to spend plenty of (extra) time practicing;
  2. pair programming is the most frightening and also the most awesome learning practice.
July 2021
Joined Yara as Associate Software Engineer.
I became part of a talented cross-discipline team that built and maintained AtFarm, a farm and field management tool.
Here, I utilized and extended my knowledge of React, learned TypeScript, created UIs, worked with GraphQL API integration, MapBox GL JS, made first encounters with (and tweaks to) the NestJS backend microservice.
2023 – 2025
Promoted to Middle Software Engineer.
Changed several teams and projects. Worked on a microfrontends app suite.
While still mainly focused on Frondend, I also did other cool stuff:
  • managing deployment pipelines,
  • working closely with the DevOps engineers to migrate workflows from CircleCI to GitHub Actions,
  • building and extending RESTful API in NestJS microservices,
  • integrating Kafka events,
  • and documenting it all.
now
In my spare time, I enjoy city walks and hikes in the nature. Mountains and making stuff (either with the means of code or manual crafts) are my most favorite things in the world.
